Members of the MYO and MYJO may also participate in an ensemble outside of the larger group. There are numerous opportunities to work with guest artists and to perform new compositions each season. Students must be a member of their school music organization on their GBP/JPY orchestra instrument OR be enrolled in ongoing private lessons if no school. Membership is open to students in or below grade 12. The MYO, MYJO, and PSO take Music To Go Tours to many area schools in order to provide free, live musical education opportunities to school children. Admission into the Murfreesboro Youth Orchestra, Murfreesboro Youth Jazz Orchestra, and Preparatory String Orchestra is by audition only. PROGRAMS All orchestras perform two subscription concerts each season in the Hinton Music Hall in the Wright Music Building (MTSU School of Music) on the MTSU campus. The well-being of our citizens remains top priority as we navigate these unusual times,” Callender said. “Though it was a difficult decision to make, we know it was the most responsible decision given the current health situation. The Rutherford County Government and Main Street Murfreesboro made a joint decision to cancel this year’s Trick-or-Treat on the Square, originally scheduled for Friday, October 30, out of an abundance of caution.
